Sehmbi Law

At Sehmbi Law, we believe anyone can be one decision away from dealing with criminal law. Interacting with criminal law can be intimidating, let us help resolve your matter in a peaceful and efficient manner.

Amandeep K. Sehmbi has experience in all areas of criminal law. She has conducted Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) hearings, negotiations in civil forfeiture matters, and assisted in managing multiple trial briefs and appeals before the BC Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada. However, it is her communication skills that set her advocacy apart. She has successfully negotiated stays of proceedings and s.810 peace bonds in assault causing bodily harm files as well as multiple domestic/spousal assault cases, resulting in no criminal record and reuniting families.

Services

Driving Prohibitions

  • Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRP) and Administrative Driving Prohibitions (ADP) are time sensitive matters that must be addressed promptly.
  • The Superintendent of Motor Vehicles requires that a dispute be filed within 7 days.
  • We can assist you by assessing the merit of your Application for Review and by representing you at your Adjudication Hearing.
  • A successful decision would result in the revocation of your prohibition and return of your vehicle.

Spousal/Domestic Assault

  • Spousal or Domestic Assault is an assault that occurs in the context of a familial relationship, that can include verbal or physical actions.
  • The immediate consequences of these charges can include the imposition of conditions on the accused such as no-contact orders between spouses, and the engagement of the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), if there are children involved.
  • We can assist you by reviewing the disclosure and resolving the matter in a way that is best for you and your family.

Assault

  • There is a varying degree of severity to assault charges including Aggravated Assault, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Assault with a Weapon.
  • These can occur in a domestic relationship or otherwise.
  • We can assist you by reviewing the disclosure and hearing your side of the story. We will always attempt to resolve the matter in your best interest and a successful conclusion to your matter.

Unbundled Services

  • Access to Justice is important to us. We understand that many accused are self-represented and are unable to pay for lengthy and costly trials to resolve their matters.
